I spend way too much time and money on the internet so you don't have to.

Some of the links below are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I could possibly earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase.
Okay, I realize this is the part of the newsletter where I offer something personal and insightful but I'm going to unabashedly throw some more content at you. Click through for the movies and the journalism that inspired them - it's obviously A LOT of content but it's fascinating.
25 Movies and the Magazine Stories That Inspired Them
In late spring of 2020, while most hotels across the country sat empty, the Suminski Innski, a three-story Italianate mansion turned bed and breakfast, was packed. In Room 2, a WNYC reporter — who, by that point, had been there for months spent his days recording in a makeshift studio. Next door in Room 4, two children, ages 10 and 13, were convalescing from particularly bad cases of COVID. Downstairs, a Bard senior had taken over the sunroom to complete their senior project — a 14-and-a-half-foot sculpture of a nun.
"Since last March, Midge and I have been testing the bounds of what it means to live in my very small apartment together. In many ways, she’s been a perfect pandemic pal: She hates interacting with others; she loves to sit on the couch; she long ago assessed sneezes as an existential threat. Whether she was sitting on a blanket in the kitchen while I cooked, frowning at me from a safe distance while I did yoga, or watching me do chores from beneath the leaves of her favorite enormous tropical houseplant, she bore witness to a year I spent otherwise alone."
The question, What happened to Tucker Carlson? is worth answering. If we can figure out how an intelligent writer and conservative can go from writing National Magazine Award–nominated articles and being hailed by some of the best editors in the business, to shouting about immigrants on Fox News, perhaps we can understand what is happening to this country.
Watching:
With a solid 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes,  I feel like I am missing something because this movie did little to nothing for me. It's right up my alley too! Maybe because we watched it at home? If you watched it, I'd love to hear from you.

After a decade of ‘hobo-ing’ around cities like New Orleans, Paris, and New York, Charley Crockett discovered it was his turn. (Although usually reserved for books, I want to highlight this 30 minute article which shines a spotlight on Deep Ellum and Charley Crockett - who I was lucky enough to see this past weekend.)

Mike and Sarah are journalists obsessed with the past and every week they reconsider a person or event that's been miscast in the public imagination. Past topics include: The Chicks vs The Iraq War, OJ Simpson, Anti-Vaxxers, The Electoral College, Princess Diana, the DC Sniper, and Jessica Simpson.
It me. I'm Collin. Shockingly, I hate talking about myself but here are the CliffsNotes. 32, Texan turned cruise ship character turned Texan turned Chicagoan turned Texan. Event designer and planner. Interior designer and stylist. Corporate badass. Spotify playlist-makin' fiend. Fiancé and double dog dad. Cursed with an aggressive gluten intolerance but also a passion for bread and no f*cks to give. Why a newsletter? It gives me a creative outlet with a deadline and my therapist says these things are important. Plus, I love to read, shop, share, and most importantly spend time on the internet. I don't sleep.
